What Is the Ford Extended Warranty?
The Ford Extended Warranty, also called the Ford Protect Extended Service Plan, extends your warranty coverage. There are several plans to choose from and various coverage levels, and each plan’s cost changes based on what’s offered. Some Ford owners may only want the minimum amount, while others prefer the peace of mind a premium protection plan covers. To help you decide which warranty suits your needs and budget, we had our experts break down the Ford Extended Warranty plans.
Ford Protect PowertrainCARE Plan

Ford’s lowest level of protection provides coverage for 29 critical engine and transmission components on vehicles, such as the F-150 pickup. This plan also covers your front- and rear-wheel-drive systems. If your Ford vehicle needs maintenance on these parts, you can have them serviced at Brewster Ford’s auto repair center or any Ford dealership. That means you’ll always have a factory-trained, certified technician performing repairs. In addition, they only use genuine Ford parts for all services, so you’ll know your vehicle will run the way Ford intended when it first rolled off the assembly line.
The plan includes a Key Services option that replaces or repairs your key fob. If you misplace it or it malfunctions, Ford will replace or reprogram the fob at no cost. Your PowertrainCARE includes 24/7 roadside assistance, protecting you with towing, lockout, fuel delivery, tire change, and jump-start services.
You also receive emergency travel expense benefits for up to $1,000 per occurrence for the first five days if your Ford Explorer needs emergency service. Lastly, you have rental car coverage for $60 per day for up to five days. Your PowertrainCARE plan covers you for three years, or 48,000 miles up to 10 years, or 175,000 miles.
Ford Protect BaseCARE Plan
The BaseCARE plan covers 84 vehicle system components that impact drivability and performance. You get all the benefits of the PowertrainCARE plan, plus you have coverage for your Ford’s steering, brakes, front suspension, electrical, air conditioning, and heating systems. In addition, you can customize your plan length to cover from three years or 48,000 miles up to 10 years or 175,000 miles, and you can transfer 100% of your remaining plan when you sell your Ford, adding more resale value.
Ford Protect ExtraCARE Plan
With the ExtraCARE plan, you extend the BaseCARE plan coverage to include 113 components critical to driving and performance. The most significant increase consists of several technology components, such as keyless entry, power-operated systems, and speed-control technology. The ExtraCARE plan also lets you customize your time and mileage options to give you the protection level you want.
Ford Protect PremiumCARE Plan
Ford’s most popular plan covers over 1,000 components in your vehicle. Failure of covered components due to defects in materials or manufacturing and normal wear and tear are included. In addition to all the components covered in the ExtraCARE plan, you also have coverage for your rear suspension, emissions, audio, and safety systems. This fully customizable plan lasts up to 10 years or 175,000 miles. It also lets you select your deductible. You can choose from $0, $50, $200, or a disappearing deductible.
What’s the Difference Between a Factory Warranty and an Extended Warranty?
Every Ford vehicle has a basic factory warranty with bumper-to-bumper coverage for three years or 36,000 miles. You also get up to five years or 60,000 miles of powertrain coverage with the basic factory warranty. After the factory warranty expires, your extended warranty coverage begins.
Do I Have To Purchase an Extended Warranty When I Buy My New Ford?
No, you don’t need to add the warranty right away. You can purchase an extended warranty later if you need extra coverage. For vehicles still under the factory warranty, your coverage begins at the date of signing and current mileage. Your coverage ends at the earlier number of months or miles purchased from the expiration of your factory warranty.
If your Ford no longer has a factory warranty, your coverage begins at the date and current mileage at signing. Your coverage terminates when you reach the earlier time or mileage purchased.
Ford Protect Premium Maintenance Plan
The Ford Protect Extended Service Plans listed above don’t cover routine maintenance. So, Ford offers the Premium Maintenance Plan for owners who don’t want to worry about ongoing regular service. The Premium Maintenance Plan covers engine oil and filter changes, multi-point inspections, tire rotations, brake pads and linings, shock absorbers and struts, spark plugs, clutch discs, engine belts, engine coolant, O-rings, clamps and seals, wiper blades, and diesel exhaust fluid fills.
The benefits of this plan include 100% transferability, which improves your resale value. Purchasing it lets you lock in a rate at today’s prices. Life happens, and sometimes that impacts your finances. Knowing your vehicle maintenance costs are covered if you suddenly find your budget shrinking will give you peace of mind. Performing routine maintenance extends the life of your vehicle and reduces the likelihood of unforeseen breakdowns. Your Ford will run at peak efficiency, and you can rely on its performance and safety systems.
Aftermarket Service Plans
Many companies offer extended vehicle service plans. However, we don’t recommend you use these plans. These aftermarket service plans don’t guarantee a Ford-certified technician will work on your vehicle’s maintenance. It also doesn’t ensure the mechanic will use genuine Ford original equipment manufacturer parts for your repairs.
Electric Vehicle Extended Warranty Plans
Ford offers similar plans to cover its lineup of electric vehicles (EVs), including the F150 Lightning. The BaseCARE EV plan covers 84 system components. An ExtraCARE EV plan extends coverage to 113 components, and the PremiumCARE EV plan covers over 1,000 components.
Purchase an Extended Warranty Today
At Brewster Ford, we want your vehicle ownership experience to be one you enjoy for as long as you own your Ford. Purchasing an extended warranty helps improve your ownership experience with quality service you can rely on and exceptional coverage you can trust. If you’re interested in purchasing an extended warranty, please contact us. One of our friendly and knowledgeable warranty experts will explain your options and find a plan that suits your needs and budget. Don’t wait until something goes wrong. What is the Ford 2023 Electric Vehicle lineup?
If you’re considering an electric vehicle (EV) for your next car purchase, Ford has a great range of options for you to choose from. Whether you’re looking for an electric truck with impressive towing and hauling capabilities, a crossover to transport your family, or a van for the job site, Ford’s rapidly expanding EV lineup has it all. Ford F-150 Lightning

The F-150 Lightning is inspired by Ford’s F-150 pickup, which has proven time and again to be the most popular truck in the country for decades. With this incredibly strong starting point, Ford retains what drivers like best about the F-150 during its shift to EVs.
A four-wheel-drive electric motor system powers the F-150 Lightning. This puts out an impressive 452 horsepower in its standard configuration and increases to 580 in extended-range Lightning models. The Lightning has one electric motor for the front wheels and another for the rear wheels to give it four-wheel drive. These two motors can shift the F-150 Lightning at an incredible speed, dashing zero to 60 mph in as little as 4.5 seconds.
The standard Lightning has a driving range of 230 miles when fully charged. You can increase this to 320 miles if you upgrade to the larger battery pack offered in the extended-range model. The Lightning’s towing abilities are also impressive. The standard setup can tow 5,000 pounds, while the extended version can achieve 10,000 pounds when paired with the Max Trailer Tow Package.
Inside the cabin, the Lightning offers seating for five people. Unlike some gas-powered pickups, the F-150 Lightning is available in only one cab and cargo bed configuration. The Crew cab offers plenty of headroom and legroom for adults in both rows, while the cargo bed measures 5 feet 7 inches in length.
Mustang Mach-E
Ford offers this all-electric crossover in rear-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive (AWD) models. The rear-wheel-drive setup has an electric motor on the rear wheels, delivering an output of 266 horsepower and a driving range of 247 miles with the standard battery pack. All-wheel drive adds a second motor to the vehicle and reduces the driving range slightly to 224 miles. The Mach-E’s extended battery pack can boost your driving range to 303 miles in rear-wheel drive or 277 miles with AWD.
If you use a 240-volt outlet to charge your vehicle, also known as a Level 2 charger, it’ll take between 12 and 15 hours to fully charge the Mach-E. You can access 240-volt chargers at a public charging site or by installing one at your home.
The Mach-E has a spacious cabin for you and your passengers to ride in. Both rows of seats are well suited for tall passengers, and there’s also equipment for installing child seating in the rear row. Behind the second row of seats, you’ll find over 29 cubic feet of cargo space. If you’re transporting bulkier items, you can fold down the rear row to open up close to 60 cubic feet in your storage area.
While the F-150 Lightning impresses with its towing abilities, the Mach-E stands out with an impressive infotainment system. Even base models have a huge 15.5-inch touchscreen paired with a six-speaker stereo. Other features include wireless device charging, Bluetooth connectivity, and a 10.2-inch digital gauge cluster. You can upgrade to a 10-speaker stereo for even better performance.
Ford E-Transit
The E-Transit van is an all-electric version of the Transit commercial van. Ford aimed the first versions of this van at commercial cargo carriers, but some reports have suggested that it may offer a passenger version in the coming years.
The E-Transit has a driving range of 126 miles. Its power train consists of an electric motor and a 67 kWh battery pack that puts out 266 horsepower. If you’d like an all-electric vehicle for hauling large items to work or delivering equipment to your clients, the E-Transit should be at the top of your list.
Ford Hybrid Vehicles
If you don’t want to opt for an all-electric vehicle, remember that some of Ford’s most popular models are available with a hybrid power train. Hybrid vehicles combine the benefits of an electric motor, which include improved fuel economy, with the support of a gasoline engine, so you don’t have to worry about driving range and charging your battery.
Ford offers Explorer and Escape crossovers with a hybrid powertrain. The Explorer is the larger of the two models, providing a third row of seating for additional passenger capacity. The Escape is a two-row crossover that does the job on the daily commute or for city driving.
Ford EV Plans
Ford has big ambitions for its EV sales over the next year. By late 2023, the automaker intends to sell 600,000 all-electric vehicles worldwide. This will include 270,000 Mach-E crossovers, 150,000 each of the F-150 Lightning and E-Transit, and 30,000 units of a new SUV for the European market.
This is just the first step in a transformational plan that will see Ford invest $50 billion in EV production. The goal is to have EVs account for half of its global production by 2030, with the company hoping to produce 2 million units worldwide by 2026. Over the longer term, Ford intends for its vehicles to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050.
Would you like to know more about Ford’s EV transformation? Or how about having the opportunity to test drive a Mach-E or F-150 Lightning in Brewster? Luckily, there are several places you can volunteer and make a difference this season. With November being the peak volunteer season, you can choose from your pick of different organizations and groups that match your interests and values or try your hand at a new field.
Volunteer organizations can also help you develop new skills depending on the tasks you’ll execute. So, whether you’re looking to join a volunteer program for an animal shelter or a hospital, you can be sure to strengthen your community ties as you serve humanity. Here are some places where you can volunteer around Brewster.
Comfort for Critters

Volunteering at Comfort for Critters may be ideal for you if you’re an animal lover. For the past 15 years, the organization’s focus has been offering animals comfort by donating handmade pet blankets to animal shelters across the country. These blankets provide comfortable beds for pets while also giving them a sense of familiarity at the animal shelter and their forever homes upon adoption. Comfort for Critters also sells eBooks that guide people on how to make pet blankets. Profits from ebook sales cover the cost of blanket shipping to different shelters.
This year, you can volunteer your crafts skills to make pet blankets by knitting, crocheting, sewing, or quilting with yarn and fleece. Comfort for Critters then donates your blankets to the nearest animal shelter, and you can rest assured that the pets are comfortable and warm during these chilly fall months. You can also drop off or ship your blankets by viewing the animal shelters they support or contacting them for further information.

Why Is Regular Auto Maintenance Important?
Auto maintenance is extremely important whether you recently bought a new car or are still driving your old clunker. No matter how old your car is or what type of vehicle you have, scheduling regular maintenance visits with a trusted dealership like Brewster Ford is crucial for maintaining its longevity on the road. Here are some reasons why regular car maintenance is essential.
Reduces the Cost of Future Repairs

Regular car maintenance can help keep your engine and powertrain working efficiently, which decreases the likelihood of having expensive repairs in the future. Dealerships have designed special tools for performing preventative maintenance, so you don’t need to worry about doing the repairs yourself. If you have a Ford truck or car, you may consider bringing your vehicle to Brewster Ford for your regular maintenance. To schedule an appointment, contact our service department.
Assists in Preventing Motor Vehicle Accidents
There are many things that can go wrong with the vehicles that you can’t see, such as worn parts, loose bolts, and contaminated fluids. Worn parts give off less power than they’re supposed to, so your vehicle may seem sluggish. Loose bolts can cause potentially dangerous accidents. Contaminants in the oil or transmission fluid can reduce the effectiveness of vital systems in your cars, such as the power steering or braking system. Damage to these essential systems could cause you to lose control of your vehicle, which is why regular maintenance is important for safe driving.
Protects Against Wear and Tear
Regular maintenance is essential for protecting your vehicle against regular wear and tear from driving. For instance, if your vehicle has older brake pads, they may cause damage to your brake rotors if not replaced in a timely manner. Additionally, if your car doesn’t receive regular maintenance, oil seals may crack or break down, leaving your motor oil to leak or pour out. If parts that reduce the amount of friction wear out, they may lead to premature engine failure. Worn parts can also cause components to fail, which can result in substantial damage.
Gives You Peace of Mind
If you drive a car that doesn’t get regularly checked or maintained, you may become anxious about whether you will make it to your destination safely. If your vehicle breaks down in a remote location, you could get stuck, be unsafe, or even lose your job. Consider investing in regular maintenance each time the oil is changed and before long road trips to give you peace of mind that your car will be able to take you wherever you need to go.
Makes It Easier To Sell Your Vehicle
If you’re trying to sell your car and want to obtain a better price for it, regular maintenance is important because buyers place a high value on well-maintained vehicles. Buyers often complete vehicle inspections, which can reveal a lot about the car’s condition. CARFAX reports also show how often a vehicle receives maintenance, which can have a large impact on the selling price. For example, if your vehicle received regular oil changes and maintenance while you owned it, this may improve the buyer’s confidence that the vehicle is in good condition.
Improves Engine Quality and Gas Mileage
If you get regular oil changes, your car’s engine will run more smoothly over time. As you continue to drive, the oil in your vehicle thickens and deteriorates, causing dirt and grime to enter and cause damage to engine components. Changing the oil in your vehicle as soon as your owner’s manual or dealership suggests can make the engine operate more effectively and for longer. This can also improve your gas mileage by maintaining the efficiency of your powertrain. Improving your gas mileage is a great way to save money over time while owning a vehicle long-term.
Reduces Chances of Engine Overheating
Overheating is one of the most common reasons why vehicles get stranded while they’re on the road. If your engine is overheating when you’re driving, it’s possible that there are problems with your radiator. Most vehicles have indicators of engine heat that can help you identify this issue. Getting regular maintenance can ensure you have enough engine lubricant and radiator fluid to maintain the temperature levels of your engine.
Ensures Optimal Tire Type and Pressure
Another common issue that regular maintenance can fix is improper tire type and pressure. Though tire pressure may seem like a simple fix, improperly inflated tires can cause serious harm to your vehicle and the passengers inside. Additionally, if you experience cold temperatures in the winter, it’s essential to put winter or all-season tires on your vehicle to maintain traction during the snowy season.
Bringing your car or truck in for service at Brewster Ford can help ensure that your tires have the optimal pressure and traction for any season. We also offer tire rotation services to ensure the even wear of your tires.
Helps Keep Your Cooling and Heating Systems Working Properly
Regular maintenance can help ensure your vehicle’s heating and cooling systems work effectively when you need them most, from changing filters to fixing AC leaks. Service appointments typically include regular checks for air filter quality and coolant levels. At Brewster Ford, we always let you know if your air filters could use replacing, and we have highly trained professionals capable of repairing almost any heating or cooling system.
If you need to get your car serviced, stop by Brewster Ford for all of your service needs. You can always visit Brewster Ford for the best service in New York, even for regular oil changes. For example, you could make the interior more comfortable or practical, expand the cargo area, add optional tech features, and much more. Check out some of the top Ford accessories available through our automotive accessory and parts stores.
6 Auto Accessories for Your Ford You Have To Try
Check out this list of popular accessories if you’re looking for ideas on how to customize your Ford car, truck, or SUV. Most of these are available for current or past models, so feel free to browse Ford accessories in our shop whenever you’re ready.
Fender Flares
Fender flares are an extension of the fender (the border around the wheel housing), adding style and extra coverage for offset tires or extra-large wheels. OEM Ford fender flares prevent gravel, sticks, and other debris from flying back and scratching your finish. Most OEM options are made of paint-ready Duraflex 2 ABS plastic, and every option is sturdy enough for all types of driving. Consider adding fender flares if you’d like a Ford exterior feature that’s both practical and visually appealing.
Rubber Mats
If you’ve been looking for replacement or upgraded rubber floor mats, take a glance through our Ford accessory inventory. You’ll find crafted molds of all-season, rubberized thermoplastic for a long-term perfect fit. They’re offered in a range of colors to complement any decor, and you can easily remove and rinse them when dirty. If you aren’t looking for something quite so utilitarian, you can find high-quality Ford carpets and non-rubber mats as well.
Mud Flaps
Another exterior addition available on most models, Ford mud flaps are an effective defense against abrasive mud, road sludge, and other substances around your wheels. Rain, snow, and other liquids mix with environmental toxins that build up on the moving parts around your wheels or the outer exterior. Over time, dirt and pollutants can cause damage and reduce the visual appeal of your vehicle. Mud flaps are especially valuable if you go off-roading in a Ford truck or SUV.
Seat Covers
Ford genuine seat upholstery covers will shield every seat row’s material from spills, dirt, scratches, and even sunlight damage. You can order covers for your Ford truck or other models from our department at Brewster Ford. Choose from diverse options that give your seats water protection, custom designs, double or triple stitching, and more. Some covers are machine washable, and they’re all easily removed and reinstalled.
Tonneau Cover
Among many Ford truck bed accessories, you may want to look at one of the most common — a tonneau cover. Available in vinyl or aluminum designs with up to three folding divisions, a tonneau truck cover helps you safeguard items in the bed of your F-Series or other Ford truck. A tonneau cover offers weather protection as well as privacy, and authentic OEM Ford covers look great and add a lot of style. Also, don’t forget to check out the available Ford truck bed cargo trays and mats or cargo liners to protect your truck’s bed.
Weather Shield
A weather shield is a barrier that helps prevent water from entering the cabin during rain or other inclement weather, even with the window slightly open. A weather shield can also help protect your side windows and interior from the sun in hotter months. Slimline, aerodynamic weather shields are available for Ford sedans, SUVs, trucks, and more up to all four doors.
Benefits of Ford Accessories

One of the best reasons to purchase genuine manufacturer accessories is dependability. No matter the model or year, Brewster Ford can help you find the best quality option, and all for one reason: we only offer OEM parts produced and sold by Ford. Third-party aftermarket accessories or generic parts may claim to suit your model, but these often come with complications or quality issues.
Overall, customizing and improving your Ford is more affordable and fun when you shop at a top-rated Ford dealership in Brewster. Some of the benefits of shopping for original Ford equipment from the dealership include the following:
- OEM products use high-quality materials and have rigorous testing. Nobody wants to compromise on quality and efficiency, whether for exterior lights, cargo security items, or anti-theft systems.
- Ford accessory warranties are longer and more dependable. On most products, you can get coverage for the remainder of your Ford model’s New Vehicle bumper-to-bumper warranty of three years or 36,000 miles, or you can opt for a 24-month policy with no mileage limit.
- It provides better access to discounts and current Ford parts, service, and accessory specials at Brewster Ford.
- You get access to a FordPass Rewards card that helps you affordably customize and maintain your Ford to a stellar condition.

Fall is fast approaching, and that means it’s almost apple-picking season. As you prepare for the magic of autumn, it’s important to create a plan to visit some of the best local orchards that Brewster and its surrounding areas have to offer. At your local Brewster Ford, we love our hometown and all its seasonal beauty. Read on to learn about seven places to pick apples near Brewster, New York.
Salinger’s OrchardB
Beginning all the way back in 1901, Salinger’s Orchard is currently on its fourth generation of Tim Salingers, with ownership passing down from one Tim to another over the years. Today, this orchard offers seasonal fruits including peaches, pears, nectarines, plums, and cherries along with produce, baked goods, and candies. For apple lovers, you can bask in 18 varieties grown right on the orchard’s land.
You can begin picking some apple varieties as soon as the end of August, while others go on all the way until the end of October. If all your picking leaves you hungry, there’s no need to worry. Salinger’s even offers an adorable cafe serving coffee and fresh-baked apple cider doughnuts, sure to knock your socks off.
Outhouse Orchards
The creatively named Outhouse Orchards is a great stop for any apple lover. Enjoy a fully stocked farm stand complete with farm-grown produce, local honey, maple syrups, jellies, baked goods, ciders, and seasonal decorations. For those who’d like to pick their own fruits, the pick-your-own (PYO) season begins Labor Day weekend with peaches, pears, and apples.
Apples should be on the trees from the beginning of September until the end of October. With the orchard’s pre-paid bag policy, you can select how many pounds of apples you’d like to purchase (15- or 25-pound bags are available) and spend as much time as you’d like filling them. Note that reservations are required to pick, so plan ahead before heading out to this local spot.
Harvest Moon Farm and Orchard
Marvel at the wonder of the Hudson Valley at Harvest Moon Farm and Orchard. This hillside orchard features panoramic views of the valley below. Spend the day picking apples, with the season beginning in September and running through October. When you’ve picked out your perfect apples, you can fill up on fresh and hot cider doughnuts and wash them down with farm-pressed cider. If you’re really hungry, you can enjoy barbeque lunch options, or you can simply sit back and relax with the farm’s homemade hard cider. Other options for purchase include pies, breads, and other tempting baked goods.
Stuart’s Fruit Farm
All year long, the longstanding Stuart’s Fruit Farm has something for you and your family to love. During the spring months, you can enjoy farm-fresh flowers and vegetables. In the winter, get ready for the Christmas tree season. But fall is when this spot really shines.
Enjoy apple-picking in the farm’s autumn-tinted orchards. For a full experience, you can hop on a hayride and visit the farm stand for produce, cider doughnuts, and other baked goods. This family-operated spot even encourages visitors to bring a picnic basket and spend an entire day looking up at the trees as their colors change. The farm accepts cash and check only, so be prepared. You’re going to want to buy a few things here.
Barton Orchards
Barton Orchards is a full-farm experience like nothing you’ve ever seen before. On top of 175 acres of apple picking, you can satisfy your apple obsession with seasonal pastries and baked goods, including a famous apple cider doughnut sundae sure to make your mouth water. We’re hungry just thinking about it.
Stop by the ice cream shop for this and other cool treats, visit the farm stand to grab some produce for later, and grab a glass of local wine, craft beer, or cider at the tap room. If that’s not enough to keep you and the entire family busy, there’s also a petting zoo, dog park, and playgrounds. Coming soon, the adventurous picker can scale the trees themselves in the orchards’ tree top adventure attraction. If you’re ready for a full day of apple-based fun, Barton is the place.
Blue Jay Orchards
Offering a staggering 8,000 trees growing over 20 varieties of apple, you’re sure to find something delicious at Blue Jay Orchards. Picking begins around Labor Day, with the options only getting sweeter and riper as the season marches forward. You can also enjoy a seasonal farm stand filled with pies, doughnuts, and ciders, along with some thoughtful (and nontraditional) touches like designated picnic areas and photo props for the perfect shot. Enjoy a calm, chill day out in nature with Blue Jay.
Wilkens Fruit and Fir Farm
Wilkens Fruit and Fir Farm is a great way to get into the holiday spirit, no matter which holiday you choose. The season starts with PYO apples and peaches, moves to pumpkins later in October, then transitions into cut-your-own Christmas trees as the weather cools even further. To make the most of these time-spanning options, check out the farm’s three farm markets, filled with pies, ciders, doughnuts, and gifts for everyone on your list. On select September weekends, you can also take a wagon ride through the trees.
Picking officially starts on Sept. 3, and Wilkens recommends that you visit as early in the month as possible to guarantee a good selection. For every adult, expect to pick at least the farm’s 1-peck minimum, or 1/2 bushel for 3-4 adults. But this shouldn’t be a problem. Take one look at the fully stocked trees above you and get ready to go wild.
So, there you have it. Brewster Ford just listed seven of the best apple orchards around. How’d you find this list? Are you ready to set out and check out a new spot? Contact us today to let us know. We can’t wait to hear from our fellow apple fiends.
