There is no question that buying a 2021 Mustang is the right decision. However, common questions do arise, like where to buy a new Ford Mustang and which model years are best? How long will a Mustang last and how reliable are they?

What Are the 2021 Mustang Models and Prices?

The S550 (sixth generation) range of Ford Mustangs launched in 2015 and has had regular updates since then, bringing the total to 10 models to choose from in 2021, ranging in price from $27,205 to $72,900. Here are the latest models, listed in price range order from lowest to highest:

  • Ecoboost Fastback. Starting at $27,205.
  • Ecoboost Premium Fastback. Starting at $32,225.
  • Ecoboost Convertible. Starting at $32,705.
  • GT Fastback. Starting at $36,285.
  • Ecoboost Premium Convertible. Starting at $37,725.
  • Premium Fastback. Starting at $40,285.
  • Premium Convertible. Starting at $45,785.
  • MACH 1. Starting at $53,400.
  • MACH 1 Premium. Starting at $55,300.
  • Shelby GT500. Starting at $72,900.

There’s also the Mustang Mach-E all-electric SUV model released in late 2020 and available early fall 2021. Starting at $42,895, the Mach-E qualifies for a federal tax credit of $7,500, so you can pick one up at around $35,395. The Mach-E GT model accelerates from 0 to 60 mph in just 3.5 seconds, doesn’t use gas, and has a 305-mile battery life range. This is definitely a model worth test driving.

How Reliable Is a Ford Mustang?

When it comes to car reliability, there are a lot of factors to consider. Besides the sticker price, exactly how much will the car cost you to maintain each year? According to the latest comparative car reliability research stats, the Mustang ranks highest against all other Ford models and is very reliable when compared to other popular car brands.

The stats show that at yearly maintenance costs of just $709, the Mustang is substantially cheaper to maintain and beats the industry average for maintenance frequency by a substantial margin. Compared to other brands, the Mustang is rated higher for long-term quality.

How Fast Can a 2021 Mustang Go?

How fast an S550 Mustang can go is really an irrelevant question seeing as Ford installs speed limiters on all stock models. In general terms, top speeds are governed to 155 mph. A 2021 Mustang GT500 has been recorded at a top speed of 182 mph. After heavy modification, a Ford GT became the world’s fastest car in 2017 when it hit a top speed of 293.3 mph over one mile, beating its previous top speed record of 283.2 mph set in 2012.

A more relevant indicator of how fast a 2021 Mustang can go is timing the car’s acceleration from standstill to 60 mph. The Ecoboost will do zero to 60 mph in 5.1 seconds, the Mach 1 in 4.2 seconds, the Shelby GT500 in 3.7 seconds, and, surprisingly, the Mach-E hits 60 mph in just 3.5 seconds.

Is the Mustang’s Automatic Transmission Better Than Its Manual?

Ford provides Mustang buyers with a choice between the six-speed manual transmission or the 10-speed automatic. Overall, the 10-speed automatic transmission provides better fuel economy by decreasing engine rpm requirements without sacrificing low-gear acceleration speed. Think of it as a six-speed transmission with an extra four overdrive gears. In effect, the more gears a transmission has, the more flexibility exists for engine-to-wheel speed optimization.

Additionally, the automatic transmission comes with manual paddle shifters positioned within finger-grasping distance of the steering wheel. Technically, the 10L80 transmission has six automatic clutches that engage/disengage (dual-clutch) in pairs. Compared to conventional two-piece designs, its six-clutch system provides quicker response timing through integrated solenoid valve regulating.

Which U.S. State Buys the Most Mustang Cars?

According to an analysis of muscle cars with at least 400 horsepower, Texas is the most horsepower-hungry state. The data shows that 1% of all the passenger cars purchased in Texas are 400+ horsepower Ford Mustang models. That’s almost double the number of Ford Mustangs purchased in Florida, which equals the number purchased in Arizona. Massachusetts doesn’t feature in the top ten states of Mustang owners, but  Brewster, New York, is a premier destination for buying new and used Mustangs.

Leasing vs. Buying a 2021 Mustang — Which Is Better?

In effect, leasing is a bit like renting a brand new Mustang and then swapping it for the latest model after a few years. Leasing is a great option if you want to stay on-trend while avoiding long-term financial and maintenance burdens. The benefits of leasing include:

  • No deposit. Leasing agreements do not require a down payment, although you can reduce monthly installments by opting to include a deposit.
  • Low monthly costs. Besides lower installment costs compared to buying, you’ll also save on car insurance and general maintenance costs as these are covered by the lessor.
  • Short-term commitment. Lease agreements typically last for 24, 36, or 48 months. At the end of the contract term, you can decide if you want to purchase it outright, exchange it for the latest Mustang model, or upgrade it for a higher spec model.

Compared to leasing, buying a brand-new Mustang means you’ll own it outright. If you plan to modify your Mustang with an aftermarket engine upgrade or body parts, then buying is a better option. Other benefits of buying include:

  • No restrictions. You won’t have to worry about mileage limitations, which are usually placed on vehicle lease contracts.
  • Long-term equity. If you finance the car, the deposit and monthly payments go to paying off and reducing the loan amount over time, thereby increasing the equity you hold. That equity can then be used as trade-in value against a new Mustang in the future.

Which option is better really depends on your personal circumstances and preferences. For expert buy or lease advice, speak to your local Ford dealer.

If you’re considering a 2021 Ford Mustang, feel free to contact us at Brewster Ford. We are proud to serve the Brewster, New York, community and would be happy to help you choose the Mustang that’s right for you.

The used car market has been in upheaval because new cars are often harder to come by. One issue that has arisen is that unscrupulous sellers are taking advantage of desperate buyers to buy cars as-is. At Brewster Ford in Brewster, New York, we have seen what happens when someone buys a used Ford in an as-is sale, and we want to help you avoid a similar fate of permanent repairs on lemons. Following is a look at what you need to know before buying a vehicle that is being sold as-is.

Using “As-Is” in a Car Sale

Calculator on contract with pen

The term “as-is” is used to describe a car being sold in its current condition. That can mean the seller or dealership will not warranty the car or be held responsible for repairs that are needed to keep the car functional. Buying an as-is vehicle means you are willing to take on all risks associated with a vehicle with or without inspections and with disclosed or undisclosed problems. It is worth noting that dealers and private sellers have different legal responsibilities for selling a car as is.

When you buy a car as is, you are engaging in a buyer-beware transaction. New York State laws regarding car sales will not protect you in this type of sale because you are waiving the right to be made whole by a warranty or guarantee.

How New York Lemon Laws Apply to Dealerships and Private Sellers

New York has lemon laws that apply primarily to a new car with a defect that the dealer or manufacturer can’t repair. These laws also apply to used vehicles sold by a dealership. A dealership is required by law to provide a warranty on used cars that cost more than $1,500 or have less than 100,000 miles. At Brewster Ford, we comply with all New York State laws regarding new and used cars and provide the appropriate warranty for all car sales.

Private sellers are exempt from lemon laws and can sell a used car without fear of reprisal. When you buy a used car from a private individual, you can’t ask them to cover the cost of repairs if the vehicle breaks down after they sign the title to you. The car can have a catastrophic breakdown after you have driven it for a mile, and you’ll be responsible for the cost of repairs. You can’t return to the seller to get your money back, but you may go through small claims court for reparations.

This scenario is much less likely to happen when you buy a used car from a reputable dealership like Brewster Ford. When a used car comes into the dealership for resale, it undergoes a full inspection regardless of whether it is a Ford or another manufacturer. Any minor repairs are made in-house, and the car is put into working condition for the next owner. It also gets a limited warranty covering the restoration of a catastrophic breakdown within the warranty window.

Get the Car Inspected Before You Buy

Talk to your mechanic before looking at a car sold as-is, or ask for referrals to a mechanic who will help you with a car inspection if you do not have a regular mechanic. A mechanic can find issues that are not immediately obvious to the untrained eye or ear and give you their informed opinion about the car’s condition.

Do not sign a contract on an as-is car until you know more about its condition and feel confident in handling repairs. As a general rule, modern technology and engineering have improved engines’ longevity and made them easier to repair. However, some engines have excellent cylinder blocks and heads but have poor engineering in the supporting systems.

A qualified mechanic can help you determine if a car is worth buying as is and if you can put up with minor mechanical issues until you can afford to fix them. They can also help you decide if you should walk away from the sale and look for another car.

Buying As-Is Can Be Costly

Buying a vehicle as-is may feel like you are getting a good deal on the surface. You are taking a significant risk buying a car as is, regardless of the current state of the car market. There is less risk in buying from private sellers who have maintained their car and have records to prove it even though the transaction is considered. But if you need a vehicle and do not have a lot of cash to spare, an as-is sale from a dealership or private seller can be very tempting.

Lemon laws do not apply to private sellers, but you can get the car inspected by your mechanic before you buy. One red flag is when the seller won’t accommodate your request to inspect the vehicle by a mechanic. That’s when it is time to walk away from the deal, as you are likely to find major mechanical issues. There’s always a risk that a used car has an existing mechanical problem that’s costly to repair. Still, you reduce your risk by purchasing from a reputable dealership like Brewster Ford or a private seller who has proof that they have properly maintained the vehicle.

Here at Brewster Ford, we understand that buying a car is expensive. We want to help you find a used vehicle that meets your needs, is in good mechanical condition, and will not stretch your budget. Give us a call, check out our inventory on our website, or come on in to look at what we have available and talk to us about what you are looking for.

If you’re looking for a more modern-day take on a classic pony car, look no further than the 2021 Ford Mustang Mach-E. This year’s model combines the look of the familiar Ford Mustang with an all-electric motor. Now you can get the style of a powerful muscle car while also getting all the benefits of driving an eco-friendly vehicle. However, if you’re not sure if this is the car for you, below we’ll highlight some of the best features of the 2021 Ford Mustang Mach-E to help you decide.
Exterior

Image viaFord.com

The first thing you’ll notice about the 2021 Ford Mustang Mach-E is its stunning visual appearance. Like its predecessors before it, this year’s model is a joy to look at. In fact, it’s one of the best-looking vehicles currently in Ford’s lineup. This vehicle is a sleek SUV, but it still gives you plenty of storage space in the trunk. It also comes in a variety of colors so that you can customize it to your liking.
Interior
Moving inside, you’ll notice an elegant interior that provides comfort on even the longest drives. It’s got a streamlined dashboard that makes the car look more modern while still making all your essential information easy to find and read. The seats are made of high-quality upholstery that adds to the car’s elegance.
A big benefit of the 2021 Ford Mustang Mach-E is the cargo space. For starters, there’s a large center armrest you can open and store items, such as large bags. In addition, there are 29 cubic feet of cargo space in the trunk, which you can expand to 60 if you fold down the back seats. This makes the 2021 Ford Mustang Mach-E perfect for both long drives where you have a lot of luggage and running errands on the weekend.
Finally, some additional features you can expect to find on the inside of the 2021 Ford Mustang Mach-E include:

Heated seats.
Heated steering wheel.
Customizable interior lighting.
Wi-Fi hotspot capabilities.
Panoramic sunroof.

The exact features available depend on which trim you select so be sure you analyze the full list of features for each trim to ensure that you get all the features you’re looking for.
Performance
One of the main reasons people loved the Ford Mustang was its performance. They loved the sound of that powerful engine and the feel of it on the road. The 2021 Ford Mustang Mach-E is a little different but no less enjoyable to drive. The roaring gas engine is gone, replaced with an electric motor. There are different options available when it comes to the battery pack, which determines some of the performance metrics. However, if you get the GT trim, which comes with the extended battery pack, expect to get around 480 horsepower and 634 pound-feet of torque.
When people think of electric cars, they often don’t think of cars that can go from 0 to 60 in 3.5 seconds but that’s just what the 2021 Ford Mustang Mach-E is capable of. In addition, you’re able to get pretty far in this vehicle without having to stop for a charge. The EPA-estimated range is between 211 and 305 miles depending on your trim. It also comes with a fast-charging capability, allowing you to get some extra miles with just a quick charge.
Entertainment
When you get inside the 2021 Ford Mustang Mach-E, one of the first things you’ll notice is the large, vertical touchscreen infotainment center in the middle of the dashboard console. This 15.5-inch touchscreen allows you to easily navigate through the car’s apps and other features. In addition, you can connect Apple and Android devices and control your media and navigation apps through this screen. It’s a great way to listen to your favorite music or get directions while you’re on the go.
Another great feature of the infotainment system is that it uses machine learning to customize your experience. In the infotainment system, you can create up to three driver profiles and one guest profile. It will then analyze this profile’s behavior over time and optimize the experience the more you use it. When you think about a Ford Mustang, you most likely think of things like speed, power, and performance, but fuel economy is probably not one of the first things you consider. The Ford Mustang Mach-E eliminates fuel, and you can now have the Mustang’s performance prowess in an electric vehicle (EV). In addition, the Mustang Mach-E is comprised of cutting-edge automotive technology that is sure to impress. Let’s explore the best features of the Mustang Mach-E.
Exterior Design
Image via Ford.com
Ford engineers spent a little extra time on the exterior design of the Mustang Mach-E and ensured that the vehicle has all the flare you have come to expect from a Mustang. This electric sports car implements exterior details such as distinctive curves, sleek lines, and an aggressive performance stance. On top of these visual cues, you will find that the Mustang Mach-E has a mock front grille (available with the GT Model), custom hood design, authentic Mustang badging, and Mustang taillights. Other available design features include a glass roof, innovative door handles, and custom Mustang wheels.
Eco-Friendly
Did you ever imagine that you would hear the term eco-friendly included in a sentence with Ford Mustang? Maybe not, but they go hand-in-hand when describing how the Mustang Mach-E is built to be eco-friendly. The Mustang Mach-E won Cars.com’s 2021 Eco-Friendly Car of the Year award.
The Mustang Mach-E won this prestigious award from Cars.com by meeting the following criteria:

Body style.
Range.
Efficiency.
Charging capacity.
Design.
Nationwide availability.

Power and Performance
Power and performance may not be the first terms you consider when thinking about an EV, but the Mustang Mach-E begs to differ. The Mustang Mach-E has two available batteries, the standard range (68 kWh) and the extended range (88 kWh), depending on the trim level you choose. The Mustang Mach-E is also available with either 266, 290, 346, or 480 horsepower and 317, 428, or 600 pound-feet of torque. These numbers range between four trim levels and available options, with the GT trim level having the most power and torque.
The Mustang Mach-E is available in either rear-wheel-drive or all-wheel-drive and has responsive handling inspired by the iconic Ford Mustang GT. Rating an EV’s power is pretty straightforward, but rating its performance is something of an enigma. The Mustang Mach-E boasts a top 0-60 mph time of only 3.5 seconds in the GT Performance Edition trim level, but where the Mustang Mach-E shines is in fuel economy or lack thereof, depending on your perspective.
Since the Mustang Mach-E is an EV and uses no fuel, its performance is also measured by its total driving range. The Mustang Mach-E’s electric driving range is rated from 211 miles to 305 miles, depending on the trim level and configuration. The California Route 1 trim level offers the most range, and the GT trim level tops out at 270 miles. Ultimately, you will have to pick and choose from many options to strike a balance between the efficiency and performance you are looking to achieve when purchasing the Mustang Mach-E.
Spacious Interior
Did someone say spacious interior? This is typically not even considered when purchasing a Mustang, but the Mustang Mach-E is classified as a small SUV and provides ample interior room, making it appealing for families. The Mustang Mach-E can seat up to five passengers with room for cargo as well.
Behind the rear seats, you will find a whopping 29.7 cubic feet of space for your stuff. This number increases to 59.7 cubic feet with the rear seats folded flat. This amount of cargo space is especially impressive for an EV capable of reaching 0-60 mph in only 3.5 seconds.
High-Tech Features
Now we can get to the heart of what makes the Mustang Mach-E special, and that’s all of its available high-tech features:
Sync 4A Technology: Sync 4A is the latest version of Ford’s Sync system. This intelligent and adaptive system learns the driver’s personal preferences over time and can store up to three driver profiles and one guest profile. In addition, Sync 4A is coupled with an available 15.5-inch touch screen interface. This interface is mounted in portrait position in the center of the dash and controls all the Mustang Mach-E’s primary functions.
Standard infotainment features: With many standard infotainment features such as Sirius XM, a Wi-Fi hotspot, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto, the Mustang Mach-E offers endless entertainment for all passengers.
Bang & Olufsen: One of the world’s premier audio companies, Bang & Olufsen offers some of the best-sounding automotive sound systems available today. The available Bang & Olufsen audio system in the Mustang Mach-E elicits feelings of being in a concert hall and has a state-of-the-art subwoofer. This subwoofer provides accurate bass at low or high volume and takes up 80% less space than regular subwoofers.
E-Latch System: One thing you may question about the Mustang Mach-E is where to find its door handles. The answer is, there are no door handles, and this is where the E-Latch system comes into play. This system is an electronically controlled door-latch system with two innovative ways for consumers to open the Mustang Mach-E’s doors.
One is to use the key fob, but you can use your smartphone as well. When the Mustang Mach-E detects one of these two, you can simply push the button on any of the four doors to open it slightly. Then, you can use the front door pull handles or the rear grab pad inside the door. There’s no need to worry about having pinched fingers, as the doors will only close once they have been opened all the way after the E-Latch system has been activated.
Advanced Interior Air Filtration: Ford’s micronAir proTect filter helps keep the interior of the Mustang Mach-E clean and clear. This filter traps particles that are so small they are invisible to the human eye. This advanced air filtration process aims to offer additional protection against harmful pollution, allergens, and more.
The Ford Mustang Mach-E is a remarkable EV that is affordable, fun to drive, convenient, and loaded with available high-tech features. If you are in search of an EV with style and performance at its heart, the Mustang Mach-E will not disappoint. We have a few self-proclaimed bread and pastry connoisseurs in our staff that helped us put together this list of the top six bakeries in Brewster and the surrounding area.
And just to be 100 percent sure, we’ve taken to scanning dozens of reviews to make sure we’re giving you the best tips possible when searching for the sweet or savory baked goods of your dreams just in time for your holiday celebration!
Top Bakeries in Brewster Specializing in Bagels

Our sources tell us that the Empire Bagels shop was originally located in the Bronx, and now there are two locations: one in Brewster and one in Carmel. There are several reviews online claiming Empire Bagels is the best in the area. Other than bagels, they have an extensive menu specializing in sandwiches. Definitely try the breakfast sandwiches; we recommend the Country Style, made with 3 eggs, bacon, cheddar, onions, and peppers. If you’re not feeling breakfast or you’re visiting them closer to lunch, try the Grilled Chicken Caesar.
Find Empire Bagels located just a couple of miles away from our dealership in Brewster at 1515 NY-22, on the first floor of the Lakeview Shopping Center. Also, if you’re in a rush, try to call Empire Bagels ahead, since we hear they can get busy with lines out the door! One reviewer on Google mentioned her New Yorker family enjoys Empire Bagels more than any bagel shop in New York City. Now that’s saying something! Visit the Empire Bagels website for more details about their menu, and then call 845-302-2757.
Another popular with Brewster locals and visitors is The Bagel Shop on 851 NY-22. Reviewers suggest you visit this bakery early, as they can run out of most types of bagels, even on weekdays! Customers love the small-town feel of the shop, where you can enjoy coffee, breakfast or lunch, and a nice chat with an extremely friendly owner. Check out the menu on the website and call ahead at 845-363-1647.

We heard the peach cake at the Brewster Pastry is something folks in the area look forward to every season. If you have a sweet tooth or you are looking for a special dessert for a holiday party, we think you can’t go wrong with this shop. The chef specializes in European and French style cookies, specialty cakes, and mini pastries. They also offer bagels and other breads. Check out the Brewster Pastry website to see photos of their beautiful pies, tarts, and pastries. The shop is located at 1620 Route 22, and you can call ahead at 845-278-2555.
We love the story behind the Sunflour Bakery, which operates out of a renovated 2,000 square-foot location that was previously a church and before that, many other business types. But what we love most about the story is how much the Carlson family has worked together to build this business, starting from the kids helping their mom out in her first bakery job. If you want to know more about the Carlson family, check out this article the Pawling Record published about them.
Today, Sunflour specializes in making custom cakes for customers. At the shop, they also offer coffee that they roast in house, as well as sweet or savory treats. Find Sunflour Bakery at 5 Broad Street in Pawling. They currently have limited hours between Wednesday and Sunday, so we recommend you check their website before visiting or call ahead at 845-289-0981.
The Best Bread Near Brewster
Image via Pexels by Johnny Rizk
The Baker’s Wife is a prime contender for the best bread in the Brewster area, according to our in-house and external sources. This is a micro bakery and mill that specializes in small-batch, leavened, handmade bread and features fresh-milled regional flour in all recipes. Baker Martin Wilson’s most popular breads are jalapeño cheddar and chocolate cherry. He also creates homemade pretzels, croissants, sourdough, and other artisanal loaves and baguettes. Some reviewers describe the texture of the loaves as having the perfect amount of crunch on the crust, with a perfectly soft center.
The Baker’s Wife is located in Pawling, New York. However, there is no dedicated storefront, and we recommend ordering through their partner, the Sunflower Bakery (mentioned in the previous section) or following The Baker’s Wife on Facebook to find out where Martin will feature his products next.
LMNOP Bakery is also a micro bakery specializing in bread. Their website describes the ordering and pick up information, stating that the menu tends to consist of a staple sourdough and two or three specialty loaves. You are generally able to choose between a round or sandwich-style loaf, though some are only available in one of the two options. Finally, you are able to choose your pick-up day (Wednesdays through Saturdays only) and date. The pick-up location is at Mast Market, 92 S Moger Ave., Mt Kisco, NY, between 11 a.m. and 5 p.m.
LMNOP is baking out of the Mast Market currently, but baker Anne Mayhew is working on eventually opening up a storefront location in Katonah. You can find more information on the LMNOP website, and we were happy to learn from reviewing the Facebook page that as of September, Anne is trialing outdoor wood-fired pizza workshops. She also offers workshops for learning introductory and advanced sourdough techniques, as well as how to make sourdough pretzels!
There you have it! Whether you’re looking for a bagel, a delicious sweet treat, or nice bread for your next holiday dinner, we’ve got you covered in this top bakeries in Brewster feature. Did we cover all your favorites? We would love to hear what you think. Please contact us today.
