Although 2017 has just begun, #Ford is looking ahead to 2020 to ensure customer satisfaction, marketplace relevance and continued profits. To succeed, thought and planning begins now. Here are a few plans already in motion at Ford.

In the U.S., Ford dominates the truck market. The best selling F-150 pickup can take credit for much of this so Ford will continue to add trucks and vans to its lineup. Globally, over the next few years, they intend to produce more SUVs and crossovers adding four new utility models to its global portfolio by 2020.

Performance models sell! Ford’s performance vehicles are successful so they plan to add 12 new performance models by the year 2020. Ford plans to electrify even more going forward with 13 new electrified models planned for introduction by 2020.

A new strategy for cars is on the drawing board at Ford. Over the years, consumers have waned in their desire to purchase a car choosing more often to buy an SUV or truck. Seeing the trend, Ford’s car division will be getting a major overhaul to capitalize on the trend while adjusting to consumer demand.

Too much of a good thing isn’t always best for business. Ford will be scaling back and right sizing their “bells and whistles” options. In addition, they will be shifting small car production to Mexico. These changes will allow them to retool their car-manufacturing facilities in the U.S. to meet the consumer’s continued appetite for utility vehicles and trucks. Doing so will deliver greater profit potential.
