Ford’s SYNC 3 Reviewed

Eight years ago, Ford introduced Sync. In 2008 it was revolutionary. You could push a button and ask it to call anyone on your contact list or tell it to play a specific artist or album stored on your phone. Amazing right?

Fast forward to today and #Sync3, as it is now known, is referred to as an infotainment system that combines navigation, stereo, phone and a graphical app platform called AppLink. All of this in a clean interface with fast response.

Ford maintains a consistent layout in Sync 3 to minimize driver distraction. As an example, whether listening to FM or satellite radio, preset buttons were in the same place on the screen. although the satellite radio screen adds a few buttons for additional features.

The color scheme of light blue-on-blueof Sync 3 complements the clean and simple graphic. It makes information easy to read in all types of lighting conditions. To ensure function, sliders and buttons can be found throughout the interface. It’s oh-so-easy to use and allows the driver to navigate the system safely while driving.

Although navigation is part of Sync 3’s repertoire, some may prefer their smartphone’s navigation. No problem, as Sync 3 supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Just plug either an iPhone 5 or later model, with updated iOS, or an Android phone running Android 5.0 or later, into the car’s USB port. and Sync 3 gives way to Apple CarPlay or Android Auto.
