Winterize Your Car And You’ll Go Far

You love living in the Brewster NY. What’s not to love, right? Well, maybe the winter months when life for you and your vehicle can present challenges. You pile on more clothes and get warm by the fire. Your ride on the other hand, sits in the cold garage until you decide to take it for a drive through the cold and snow. Be sure it’s prepared to get you there safely. Here are some tips for winterizing your car.

Check your coolant to make sure you have the correct antifreeze/water mixture to prevent fluid from freezing in your radiator. Read your vehicle’s owner’s manual for information on this mixture. Be sure the fluid is filled to the maximum line.

Oil, your car’s “blood”, should be thinner when you live where temperatures drop below freezing. Your best bet is to keep reading that owner’s manual or talk to your mechanic.

Wiper fluid is essential when rain and snow start falling Don’t overlook this winter switchover. You’ll need freeze-resistant wiper fluid to keep your windshield clean and your vision clear.

Watch your tires! Low pressure and worn tires are extremely dangerous on wet or slick roads when traction is compromised. Again, your owner’s manual will tell you the recommended PSI. If you live in an area with a lot of snowfall, consider snow tires.
