Prepare Your Car For A Long Trip

Nothing is more exciting than hitting the open road to explore our nation.  And nothing is worse than being on the side of the road in an auto that has failed you.  At Brewster Ford, we would hate to see your trip derailed.  Consider these things to ensure your vacation is a great one.
 
Check/Do The Following:

Change oil and filter, as well as your air filter
Change spark plugs
Check tire pressure and tread. Look for signs of strain, bulges or other damage.
Make certain your tire iron and jack are in the car
Check your spare tire
Pack a fire extinguisher
Bring towels for cleaning dirty windshields, spills, etc.
Get a spare key for your car and keep it on you
Bring a plastic funnel to add water or other fluids
Bring a water bucket in case you need to get water from a river or lake
Always fill your gas tank when it is half full. Don’t wait too long.
Check wipers and wiper fluid
Coolant
Flush radiator, if you haven’t done so in a while

 
Pack A Car Survival Kit With These Items:

A chain or think towing rope
Flashlight
Screwdrivers and wrenches of different sizes, pliers and a hammer
Bungee cords

 
Tips For A Safe and Successful Drive:

Know your limits. If driving 300 miles in a day is it, plan accordingly
Stay at a steady speed to see more and use get better gas mileage
Leave the Red Bull and coffee at home. If you get tired, pull over and rest
Stay away from trucks. Never tailgate. Pay full attention to the road.
