2024 Ford Electric Vehicle Update

Mustang and Lightning EV

Automobile enthusiasts worldwide expect 2024 to be an extraordinary year in which electric cars largely transform mobility. As a result, renowned vehicle manufacturers are increasingly churning out electric vehicles (EVs) from their production lines to meet the ever-growing demand.

Ford is one of the companies leading the transition to electric mobility. The company invested $22 billion to electrify the Ford Mustang, F-150, Transit, and many other models. Find the latest EV models worth watching from Ford's 2024 lineup.

2024 Ford Explorer Electric Crossover

The 2024 Ford Explorer Crossover is at the forefront of Ford's electric revolution. The fully electric car designed for the European market combines American and German engineering techniques. It provides an incredible digital experience that will keep you and your passengers comfortable throughout your journey. Below are the key features of the 2024 Ford Explorer Crossover.

Interior Design

The midsize crossover has five seats spread across two rows. The spacious cabin offers adaptable features and advanced technology to enhance functionality. The seats have a three-dimensional sculptural design, integrated headrests, and high-grade leather covers for aesthetic appeal.

The dashboard features a 15-inch touchscreen capable of vertical movement, and beneath is a mega console with a 17-liter storage capacity. The car also has an integrated soundbar with ambient lighting on the upper section of the dashboard in front of the driver.

Ford's unique design promises exciting cabin technology for the 2024 model year. An intelligent navigation system helps you pinpoint the charging stations within the BlueOval Charge Network. A customizable lighting palette enables cabin lighting customization to your preference. A SYNC Move infotainment system enables full-scale entertainment via Android Auto and Apple CarPlay integration.

Exterior Design

The 2024 Ford Explorer features an aerodynamic, polished exterior design. The front is sleek and oval, while the roof has a floating appearance due to redesigned pillars. Moreover, the streamlined sides, attractive rear finish, and modern wheel design create a captivating overall appearance.

Power, Range, and Efficiency

Ford has yet to provide information about the EV Crossover's powertrain and range. However, since the car will serve the European market, its powertrain borrows heavily from the Volkswagen MEB platform (Modularer E-Antriebs Baukasten or “modular electric-drive toolkit”). The powertrain incorporates 55 kWh and 82 kWh battery packs capable of charging to 80% capacity in about 25 minutes.

The rear-wheel drive operates on a 55 kWh hour battery and a 125 kW motor to produce 168 horsepower. However, using the 82 kWh battery, the same drive train can generate up to 282 horsepower. The all-wheel drive has a 250 kW motor producing 335 horsepower. The expected range for the rear-wheel and all-wheel drive is 218 and 305 miles, respectively.

2024 Ford Mustang Mach-E

The 2024 Ford Mustang Mach-E is a wagon-like, fully electric SUV. It's good-looking, powerful, and ideal for a family car. In addition, the all-electric Mustang boasts excellent driving performance, zero tailpipe emissions, and many exciting features.

Exterior Layout

A key highlight of the exterior layout is the redesigned front end that hosts a tow hook and a series of fog lights. The front section also includes ambient LED headlights, a modern windshield made of laminated glass, rain-sensitive wipers, and a stylish front pony badge. At the rear are a manual liftgate, LED taillights, and a rear window defroster. The car rides on 18-inch carbonized aluminum wheels.

Cargo Storage

The interior floor space and the bottom section jointly form a sandwich containing the battery, maximizing cargo and passenger space. A storage pocket is located below the center console armrest. Each front door has storage bins and more storage space in the glove box, media bin, and overhead console. Finally, a 60/40 split folding of the front row seats creates even more space for cargo.

Interior Design

The dashboard features a streamlined design, a 10.2-inch digital gauge cluster, a 15.5-inch LCD touch screen, a drainable front trunk, floor mats, and a vinyl-wrapped steering wheel. The cabin offers customizable interior lighting, wireless charging pads, heated front seats, and a steering wheel.

Power, Range, and Efficiency

The 2024 Ford Mustang Mach-E has a standard-range battery pack with a 72 kWh usable capacity. The battery has an estimated range of 250 miles on a single charge. Moreover, the SUV has a rear-wheel drivetrain, which can propel the car from zero to 60 mph in 6.3 seconds.

2024 Ford E-Transit Cargo Van

Ford has a pleasant surprise for business moguls who wish to haul heavy cargo across various destinations. The Ford E-Transit Cargo Van will hit the automobile market with three fully electric designs. Each van has a spacious cargo trunk with ample storage space and a powerful battery pack for long-range travel.

The Ford E-Transit Cargo Van has a seating capacity for two people, a fully electric powertrain, and a 68 kWh battery pack. In addition, it has an onboard Pro Power battery for short-term power supply on-site. The minivan is available in three roof designs: low roof (83.6 inches high), medium roof (100.8 inches), and high roof (110.1 inches). It also has three wheelbase designs: regular, long, and extended.

Another vehicle in Ford's van lineup is the 2024 Ford E-Transit Cutaway, a sturdy, versatile cargo van suitable for delivering normal cargo and construction materials. It features an all-electric powertrain, a Pro Power onboard battery, and 16-inch wheels for handling different terrains. The van boasts a maximum payload capacity of 4,428 pounds.

Another electric van is the 2024 Ford E-Transit Chassis Cab, a tough, flexible cargo van integrating a battery pack beneath the body for more cargo space. Like its counterparts, the E-Transit Chassis Cab has an electric powertrain, an onboard standby battery pack, and 16-inch steel wheels. It boasts a maximum payload capacity of 4,390 pounds.
